With Bungie’s involvement in the Halo series at an end, they have moved onto developing Destiny, a first person MMO sci-fi style shooter game.
Destiny, on first looks, appears to have elements of Star Wars games, influence from Halo and the guys in the image above, have a little KillZone feel about them.
Bungie hope to span the MMO over the next ten years, with Destiny, the first in a series of games. The opening of Bungie’s reveal trailer states that they; ‘decided that the right thing was for us to do something big, and commit the entire company to it’.
Thinking back to Halo and how big the project was, its influence on the gaming world and how it inspired fans to grab cameras, build full size warthogs, spartan armor and create fan films, leads me to believe Destiny will command the same attention and admiration from Bungie fans.
Bungie are currently hiring for PS3 staff, it looks like we can expect to see Destiny on the XBox 360, PS3, and maybe PS4 and Xbox 720. We haven’t received any news that confirms that PS4 and XBox 720 releases, but we strongly think it’s going to happen.
Bungie, who have joined forces with Activision on this project, have already opened up pre-orders on Amazon for the XBox 360 version of the game.
Those that pre-order from Amazon will receive a digital wallpaper of the Destiny Star Map, created exclusively for Amazon’s customers, for use on a phone or personal computer. There’s no indication when the offer will end, however digital delivery will take place within 4 working days.
Destiny pre-order is also available at GameStop and Best Buy, neither companies however are offering a bonus with the pre-order.
I’d be interested to know how many of you have put down a pre-order already, I have.
