What summer would be complete without a superhero blockbuster…made of blocks? TT Games are spoiling fans in the run up to E3 with some brand new screens of their upcoming Lego Marvel Super Heroes due to launch on multiple platforms later this year.
Embarking on a brick-smashing adventure to Thor’s home world of Asgard; Marvel favourites such as Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, Spider-Man and even the all-mighty Hulk must join forces to take on the evil Loki and his powerful armoured weapon known only as The Destroyer.
If that intergalactic road trip wasn’t enough players will also be tasked with chasing down Cosmic Bricks as they travel across a Lego Manhattan and visit key locations from the Marvel Universe, such as Stark Tower, Asteroid M, a Hydra base and the infamous X-Mansion. TQ Jefferson, Vice President of Games Production at Marvel Entertainment adds:
With more than 100 heroes and villains from across the Marvel Universe available to unlock, Lego Marvel Super Heroes is shaping up to be the most ambitious Lego project to date. Even the likes of Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Mr Fantastic and planet eating Galactus are jumping into the mix with their unique abilities served up with a smidgen of cheeky Lego humour.
It will be interesting to see if the core gameplay mechanics differ much from last year’s moderately-successful DC Super Heroes, a game that, while fun, failed to make real use of characters other than the tiresome Batman – Robin – Superman trio. Then again will TT Games dare risk changing what has clearly been a popular formula?
Lego Marvel Super Heroes will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and is set to release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PC later this year. Check back soon for more news as we get it folks!
