So you’re walking down a quite road in London, it’s late and you see something out of the corner of your eye and double take, to realise you have just seen a Zombie, yes that’s right, a Zombie but don’t worry & run for cover it’s not the end of the world as we know it.
It’s only Jennifer Blackmore (nee Jones), 27 & Rob Blackmore, 31, they are the first couple in the UK to tie the not in a zombie themed wedding, which was the centerpiece of the celebrations for the launch of new zombie video game, Dead Island Riptide.
The Blackmore’s entered a competition on Facebook, beating loads of other applicants to the prize, hosted by Dead Island Riptide’s publisher Deep silver, the rules were simple, impress the judges with their love for each other and their love for the Dead Island franchise.
The Ceremony took place at the extravagant One Mayfair, London and was set like a Paradise turned into hell, which is a theme that runs through the Dead Island franchise.
250 people including close friends and relatives traveled down from Liverpool, to see Mrs. Blackmore (nee Jones) shuffle down the aisle in a custom made zombie style tattered wedding dress towards Mr. Blackmore to say their nuptials to one another. Which was overseen by, yes you probably guessed it, a Zombie Priest.
The after party had the usual cutting of the cake, speeches and first dance, just with a goulish Zombie twist, the live music came from zombified band Mariachi Mexteca and the DJ set came from the one and only actress and TV presenter Sarah Chapman.
As well as hosting the zombie-style wedding, Dead Island Riptide’s publisher, Deep Silver, will also be sending the Undead couple off on a lovely Caribbean honeymoon. (Let’s hope there’s no Zombies on this Island).
Now personally my take on the whole Zombie themed wedding idea is; it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like it, I love the genre and the fact that it’s different also has some appeal. As far as entering a competition for it, I’m not so sure. I see it as although it’s a once in a life time opportunity, you’re also selling yourself and your love for your partner as well.
At the end of the day it’s a win/win situation for Deep Silver as it’s a massive Publicity/Advertising Campaign and for the Blackmores’ its a once in a life time opportunity.
Personally I think Dead Island: Riptide will be just as big if not bigger than it’s predecessor Dead Island.
