VoucherCodesPro.co.uk carried out a poll asking 1,245 UK gamers for their ultimate desires for Sony’s next gen console, the Playstation 4. Fans where asked: “With the announcement of the PlayStation 4 on the horizon, what features would you like to see included in the design of the new console?”with multiple choice answer.

Here’s the results:

1)      Backwards compatibility – 71%
2)      Smaller size – 68%
3)      Affordable price -62%
4)      Touch-screen controller – 54%
5)      Recordable game play – 52%%
6)      Bigger hard drive capacity – 49%
7)      High level voice control – 47%
8)      Free online gaming – 42%
9)      Super HD – 41%
10)   Downloadable games – 40%

People who selected backwards compatibility where asked why they wanted backwards compatibility, 48% of voters said, they spent a lot of time on games already released and wanted to carry them over to play on the new console.

There have been lots of rumors about Sony doing away with backwards compatibility, a move some people believe could be costly for the company, and I’d be interested to know your thoughts on this.

We aren’t sold on a smaller sized PS4, it fits in the TV cabinet, it’s not too bulky, why fix what isn’t broken! We miss the shiny look to the Playstation that the earlier PS3 builds sported, maybe this will make a return.

Pricing now plays a big part of a gamer’s decision, everyone wants more for their money and gamers are no expectation. With consoles and gaming playing a bigger part in home and family life, Sony need to get this one right, especially if they want to be crowned nex-gen console winner over Microsoft, whom we hope, will shortly announce features or a design for their upcoming console.

Sony is due to announce ‘something big’, 20th February, so make sure you pay us a visit, as we’ll be reporting on the big reveal.
