The 360′s answer to Gran Turismo on the PS3, but in this latest instalment  will it hold up to the expectations held for it? Based on the demo that was released today on Xbox live, it’s a whole lot of yes!

Forza Horizon has advanced the gameplay of the previous Forza games so that it has left all it’s competition in the dust. It has retained the stats and realistic driving that has made it one of the leading racing sims out there, but it has also introduced more elements from other racing games such as Need for Speed. This has definitely injected a much needed boost into the series to keep it current.

These NFS elements have made the game go so much farther than what it was before, instead of just race after race, you get an open-world element to drive around in as well, and can compete in one-off races against other drivers going round the map. This adds in more of a speed racer aspect which adds in some more action to the game. It also makes it more realistic. This could definitely be one of the defining parts of Horizon, it depends if more action is introduced throughout the game, but we are very excited about this prospect.

All the standard aspects of the previous Forza games are present and correct and it’s definitely a case of if it’s not broken, leave it. This feels like a realistic racer, and with the majority of the stats still being available, you can update and tune your cars as you see fit. This means that each car is different so when you’re playing online, you can race two exact same cars and still have completely different performances. Due to these all being standard features of previous Forza games, it’s something that we have come to expect so we are very glad that they didn’t alter this to much. To take away the sim aspect of the game would be to violate what the series has become known for.

There are several new events in the game as well, which include you racing against planes and the like. This is definitely an exciting development and adds something that isn’t in other racing games. This is entirely a unique proposition for a racing game, and i’m really interested in seeing how it develops.

If you thought that the previous Forza games were beautiful, just wait to check out Horizon, it is one of the most beautiful games ever created.

I cannot wait to get this game, this is definitely on my to buy list. This looks to be an amazing game and one of the best racing games out there.
