Halo is Microsoft’s flagship title for the 360 along side Gears of War, but in recent years it seems to have stagnated a little, with the last full story-line release being Halo 3. Now Reach, and Wars were good, and 343 Industries first crack at the Halo universe, the remake of Halo: CE, showed off what they could do with an existing storyline. Now we get to see how they tackle a new story-line on their own.
Game Muse recently got a chance to test out Halo 4, at the MCM Comic Con and Eurogamer previously and we found the game to have some vast improvements made, and we are cautiously optimistic about this game.
The story-line takes place after the fall of the covenant in Halo 3 and it focuses more on the Forerunners, the race who built the Halo rings. It also heralds the return of Master Chief and the A.I Cortana. However this time Cortana seems to be degrading, as A.I. is only meant to last seven years and she is now pushing eight. This has caused her to start to degrade, which adds in an interesting dynamic between her and Master Chief. We also get to see more of the Chief’s human side. This is an element we are definitely looking forward to.
The graphics have been improved, with everything looking just that little bit more beautiful and completely up to date with where we are. It’s even an increase on the beauty that was the 10th Anniversary of Halo: CE.
However it is with Multi-player that we see the most improvement as everything seems to be more designed for ease of use. You can easily see where weapons are on the map now, so instead of everyone running around with assault rifles, there is now more variety. As mentioned above, all these guns are stunningly beautiful.
There are some new guns available as well, with the Forerunner technology being available as well, so this time instead of just having the standard U.N.S.C and Covenant weapons, you get the extra Forerunner ones as well, which offers quite a nice variance to the game.
We wish we could have gotten some more time with the game, but unfortunately we were restricted. However this has gotten us salivating at the thought of the new Halo, and with it being released on the 6th of November, we don’t have long to wait.
Are you looking forward to the new Halo? Let us know in the comments below!
