Review

We all know that a score is sometimes what can make or break a game. We only have to look back at some of the most memorable themes from our favourite games such as the Zanarkand Theme from FFX or the Main theme from Halo to know how some of the best ones are done. This CD is a celebration of all video game music and quite literally a walk-through guide of what’s the best Video Game music out there.

Featuring music from some of last years greatest hits and some old fan favourites, this collection has it all for all you audiophiles out there. Featuring music from Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed and Batmans: Arkham city alongside music from Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts is a perfect compromise of both old and new. There are a couple of tracks missing that I would like to see, but the selection here is just so good you really can’t complain. Also last year X5 Music released the first one of these. So if you listen to the two back to back you have multiple hours worth of pure audio brilliance to go through.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra has done a beautiful job once again at bringing the soundtracks to life. From the utter Epicness that is Skyrim to the quiet threat of the Super Metroid theme. Each track is beautifully performed and taps into the essence of what the game is about. Each track is a pure representation of what the game is about, and truly brings the music to life.

This is as near a perfect Video Game Music Compilation that you can get, and you would be missing out indeed if you didn’t pick this up. Apart from a few more tracks that I would have liked to have seen on there, this is just perfect. This is exactly what all Video Game audiophiles need in their collection.
