Suckerpunch have taken some time out of their busy schedule to finally and officially announce their upcoming title, Infamous: Second Son.
To set the scene: It’s been seven years since the Cole Mcgrath episodes and the world is a very different place. Anyone showing signs of becoming a so-called “bio-terrorist” is immediately handed over to the Department of Unified Protection (DUP) — a government agency created to ensure there is never a repeat of the catastrophic events of Empire City and New Marais.
The player will be playing as oddly named Delsin Rowe, a cocky 24 year old that believes that he is destined for great and magical things that simply keep eluding him. However, after moving to Seattle and saving a bunch of commuters from a burning bus, Delsin discovers that he can now direct, manipulate and even transform into smoke. Not the most useful of powers, but I don’t judge!
Alas this paints him as a bright red dot on the map for the DUP and naturally, being a rebel like most people of his age, Delsin decides that he will not go quietly. On his journey, Delsin will ask questions about the society that he’s living in that not only effect the issues addressed in the game, but also issues in our very own society. Our world is full of the invasive and all seeing eye of big brother all for a spell of temporary safety. Ben Franklin once wrote “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Is he right?
As the player progresses through the game, they will see plenty of familiar Seattle based landmarks. Likewise to the previous games, the player can choose how they want to play, giving them branching storylines and choices that effect said plot. Thanks to the glorious hardware of the new Playstation 4, Suckerpunch have been able to put impressive levels of fine details and graphics.
Despite there being no official release date as of yet, we’re all very excited about the next hero/villain em up! Are you looking forward to it? Let us know!
