2K and 2K Marin have announced their downloadable content plans for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified as well as revealing a new trailer showing off different styles of team tactics.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified puts you on the streets of 1960’s America as you fight to save mankind from this new and devastating enemy threat. Take control as The Bureaus’ special agent William Carter, who will lead a highly trained squad in a third-person tactical shooter against an otherworldly threat where a split-second decision could mean life or death for your squad. The Bureau brings permadeath to the third-person shooter genre meaning you will value your squad members even more and have to carefully calculate every move to bring them through the battle to drive off the hostile invasion.
2K and 2K Marin have announced that downloadable content are in the works for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified which will support the title after its release. The DLC aims to be narrative-driven which will expand the origin story of the mysterious XCOM organization and will come to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.
President of 2K, Christoph Hartmann said:
Also pre-ordering The Bureau: XCOM Declassified from participating retailers will get you a bonus side mission named; Codebreakers, which will have players investigating a top secret government communications facility that has gone silent. As well this bonus mission those pre-ordering from GameStop will be granted use of a powerful Light Plasma Pistol right from the start of the game giving players an early edge in the secret war for humanity’s survival.
“The alternate 1962 universe that we’ve created for The Bureau is vast and there are many more stories to tell about the early days of XCOM,” “We’re excited that our stories will provide a new perspective on the war effort, much like how our critically acclaimed Minvera’s Den DLC for BioShock 2 allowed us to present a unique perspective of Rapture.” explained Morgan Gray, development director at 2K Marin.
Coming off the back of the success with XCOM: Enemy Unknown I have been concerned with how 2K would approach their own XCOM game, especially with it being a different genre altogether. But with all the information being released this game continues to look stronger after every showing and this new trailer really makes me want to test it out and now the ‘Battle Focus’ system to see how it compares to other games with similar features.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be available on August 20, 2013 in North America for $59.99 and August 23, 2013 internationally for £39.99 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.
