Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have unveiled what is set to be one of their biggest franchises to date with Titanfall, a solely multiplayer focussed shooter, coming exclusively to the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in 2014.
Set in a ravaged future where battling armies employ the use of heavily armoured robotic Titans, the universe of Titanfall juxtaposes small vs. giant, natural vs. industrial and man vs. machine. Siding with either the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation or local defending militia, Titanfall sets out to bring epic moments traditionally found in campaigns blasting into the online arena. Vince Zampella, a Co-Creator of Call of Duty and Co-Founder of Respawn Entertainment says:
With the ability to shift back and forth between pilot and Titan, players will have the freedom to change tactics on the fly, attacking or escaping depending on the situation. Titanfall Game Director Steve Fukuda added:
From what footage we’ve seen at the game’s official web site (www.titanfall.com) the mix between man and machine is an amazingly seamless process but will this be enough to shake up the usual online stalwarts such as Halo and Call of Duty or simply another gimmick falling to the wayside? And there was me expecting a remake of Shogo: Mobile Armour Division!
