Nintendo has confirmed that it is releasing the Wii Mini, across the UK on March 22nd. It is a re-designed model of the original Wii console, which is slightly smaller and functions primarily, to play all the Wii games you may have missed out on, over the past six years.
The design offers no internet capabilities, or any backwards compatibility with the Gamecube and is available in matte black with a red border finish. It also comes bundled with a red Wii Remote Plus and a red Nunchuk controller.
To coincide with the launch, Nintendo is also releasing more titles on its ‘Nintendo Selects’ range, which offers great games at an affordable price. The new titles being added include: Mario Party 8, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Power Tennis and Super Paper Mario.
It feels like a bizarre move by Nintendo, considering that most people have already brushed aside their Wii and are looking for a reason to purchase the Wii U. With a lack of games on the horizon for their latest console, is this Nintendo’s way of telling us to sit tight?
